Most of all, while Omar never chased Will, the new Will might get tracked down by the guy he accosted via social media, putting a twisted spin on how Will has always chased popularity down. What also makes this new spin resonate more is the hint that Uncle Phil used his influence in the legal fraternity to get Will off and out to LA.
As such, this bit of relatability to the current sociopolitical climate adds nuance to what was a running gag in the original series. The Bel-Air reboot looks set to dive hard into gang violence and also, police brutality with urban youths - issues that are quite prominent today. In Fresh Prince, Will got into a fight with a bully on his basketball court, as shown in a hilarious scene where the guy carts Will around and easily defeats him.

Interestingly, one of its most comedic moments was kept on loop for the duration of the show, with the opening credits harping on the basketball fracas that sent Will from West Philly to Uncle Phil's mansion.
